To be effective, you must be able to find your web site based on keywords or search terms – which prospective clients may enter into a search box on a Search Engine when looking for your product or service. It is vital Search Engines direct traffic to your website’s content.

The search for new content is a crucial day to day exercise to show your returning visitors that pages are being updated. This task becomes almost impossible when you have nearly said everything there is to say. Try to re-package your blogs content or your websites information and widen your audience - not everyone reacts to the same information in the same way, some people like to read blogs and some like to read more structured information and content.

Recycle your ideas to rejuvenate your website, blog or product description.

Business struggling to make a profit

Reports and rumors reveal that e-commerce spending is becoming polarized, with websites like lovemoney.com advising readers not to buy products like books (recommending swap sites, bookmooch.com and readitswapit.co.uk) advising their readers to use these alternatives instead of Amazon etc. On the surface this cheap, recycling, money saving piece advise sounds like a good idea but...

Industries like the book industry are struggling to make a profit so advising people not to buy new books not only puts retailers out of business - do you have an independent book seller on the high street of your town? - it also means there will be fewer 'quality' publications physically published and new authors will be unable to make a living, simply because they will have to self publish.

People are constantly looking for free promotions from businesses and are no longer prepared to pay a fare price for things. We have appeared to embraced the ‘something for nothing’ culture and are consequently (probably) destroying the fundamental laws of capitalism… Continue reading

If you want to read a book for free why not use your local Library? Closures of this fine institution are imminent due to lack of support from the general public so instead of sitting in front of your computer looking for free deals why not go to the Library and get the real deal! Not only do you get a free book the author of the book you borrow will get a small micro payment - that seems a more fair deal to me.

Julie Peel - Music to SEO to

An email mentioning this track dropped into my inbox ages ago and I listened to it - forgot about it and then I suddenly found myself humming it - I like it.

Julie Peel's “Living In A Movie” is her first single from “Near The Sun” It was recorded in Stockholm with Andreas Dahlbäck, (producer and drummer for Anna Ternheim, Nina Kinert and Jona Lee) and Cyrille Catois, a famous bass player from the Jazz scene.

The Music video for the single was directed by Audrey Culver from MTV, and shot in New York. The album was mixed at Gary Smith’s (producer for The Pixies, Natalie Merchant, Juliana Hatfield…).

A new exhibition of prints and smaller works is planned for June 2011. Below is an extract from his blog:
Peter Bright - Artist

In preparation for an exhibition in June I have begun to draw again. My previous methodology relied on me subcontracting my creativity to either ‘chance’, allowing the medium to take partial control over the finished image or by letting the computer system deal with my creativity in its prescriptive manner – the program has ways of dealing with commands in a very limit way, hacking the software is the only way of producing images that are different from our everyday visual blitzkrieg of imagery…we are subjected to via the Internet, the printed page and video.

Going back to the basic skills of drawing is an interesting excursion – a journey I’m not sure I will complete. Drawing a life model for the first times in decades was a bit daunting but old tricks and shortcuts were soon remembered and in many respects drawing is a bit like riding a bicycle.

Woodcuts = Web sites

Peter Bright

"I have begun to think about printing again. The image above is of the first two colors of a woodcut I have started to do. I have decided to walk away from the computer, with its prescriptive software and universal tools, I’m going to move back to the hands on skills I was taught over 30 years ago."
Peter Bright

An object or thing never has the same functionality as its name or image…. I think Magritte said something like this 80 or so years ago.

A bit of an odd statement but if you think about it it is very true. An inert object (or landscape) can’t tell you what it is, we rely on our experiences through out our lives to explain what we see. If we see a checkered hillside we know that the boundaries (if they are green) are most likely to be hedges and the whiteish blobs are probably sheep contained within the fields. We can estimate the feel of the landscape: warm, cold, steep, flat etc.

Which is why, when building websites it is important to explain what you are selling in language that people can understand and more importantly, can relate to.

Conceptual Art tried to destroy the art object but failed – thought and the idea is the object. The primary aims of Conceptual Art in the 1960?s was to carry out a theoretical examination of ‘art’ and through understanding propose ‘concepts as art’. Two and three-dimensional art was in the doldrums, the essence of creating was the new Holy Grail. This was considered to be a bold step, proposing an idea as a work of art left the Artist with very little to exhibit or sell, the written word was usually all that was physically evident….The written word is a powerful tool.

Amazon MP3

Have you tried buying mp3s from Amazon?

Amazon MP3 offers millions of songs and albums from your various artists in most genres. The downloads are all in MP3 format, which means they can play on any digital media player. Songs from Amazon MP3 can be played on any MP3-capable device, including iPods™, Zunes™, Zens™, iPhones™, RAZRs™, BlackBerrys™, and most media-enabled mobile phones.

The downloaded tracks are free of DRM (digital rights management) software, which means you can, play them on all your computers, transfer them to all your mp3 compatable devices, and burn your songs to CDs. Songs are encoded at high quality 256 kbps - sounds like a good deal to me.
