Cash flow - business?

 

Cash flow and funds help to grow your business. This is a balancing act that needs the skills of a tightrope walker who is prepared to walk across the Grand Canyon without a safety net. Cash flow is always a pain for the small person like me (us) and thanks to the crazy way the UK  has been forcibly put into ‘Bank Holiday Mode’ the small guy has been put under even more pressure. Will I get a debt payment holiday – I guess not!

1978: 

I once had a girlfriend called Anne who wore 'Charlie' perfume. Every time we came close I sneezed. This was not conducive to a passionate affair. Her 'big' permed hair and 'page three' figure was always out of reach, until we discovered I was allergic to her bottled smell....later we discovered I was allergic to latex.

2004:

I would like to apologies to Anne, who wore 'Charlie' perfume, for treating her so badly 26 years ago.

The text is written in Microsoft Word, three are using version 2000 and one is version 97. Three versions are operating with an English dictionary and one (v.2000) is using an American/English dictionary. This text has been written in two locations, my homes in Bromsgrove and Woolacombe. This text has been subject to 100′s of system protocols, however the structure of the text is predictable; each computer has its own subtle nuances and offers syntax and grammatical recommendations. Painting for exhibition ‘Walk Away or Jump’ - 55" x 55" oil on canvas (painted 2010)

The image of the man holding the fish was taken in Cuba in 1999. We were staying in a beach complex. The canteen that feed us all ran out of food. A handful of us hired a boat to try and catch some fish. The red snapper in the photograph was caught by me and was quickly converted into a meal. Ironically I am highly allergic to fish and could therefore not eat it.

I tried to execute landscape paintings ‘en plein air’ but it was the gorse season – no sooner was my easel erected than I fell prey to a severe asthma attack. After several puffs of Ventolin I gathered up all my paraphernalia, shoved it into the back of my Landrover and returned to the sterile safety of my own home, where I finished them off. My original idea was to follow the Monet concept and paint the vista at a given time (so the light, shadows etc. are time specific) – but I would be dead by now. So I gave myself a time limit of 90 minutes to complete the six indoors. I’m not a lover of landscape paintings – these images are a reaction to the environment, physical and visual. In truth I would be happier if Exmoor was concreted over and turned into an out of town shopping complex – I would get more pleasure from the space if it was.

This painting is now in a private collection.

Creativity refers to the creation of something new, improved, modified or adapted (a product, a solution, a work of art etc.) that has some kind of value. What counts as "new" may be in reference to the individual creator, or to the society or domain within which the novelty occurs, however the "newness" of a creation must not be confused with originality. What counts as "valuable" is similarly defined in a variety of ways. Most websites suffer from unoriginality; they belong to the herd of mediocrity and banality.  Click - copy – paste. Click - copy – paste. Click - copy – paste. Click - copy – paste etc.  This is not creativity -  but is creativity all that it is cracked up to be?

What’s it really like living with creativity? Look back over the years at the tortured artists, drunken writers and drug-crazed musicians who litter our heritage and you might start to ask the question: is creativity a blessing or a curse? How do people hell-bent on finding their muse cope? Is it the quest for creative fulfillment that causes mental anguish, or is there an imbalance in the first place? Can a creative person ever be truly happy as they constantly strive for perfection in their chosen art? And what is it like living with these two-headed beasts – can they be tamed, or should they be allowed free rein?

Surely the important thing is to be successful?

A hands on introduction to woodcuts and how to create a series of prints. Within the time frame it is hoped that each participating member will be able to create a finished image. The techniques shown will be simple 'kitchen table' processes that will be easy to replicate at home.
